This is no ordinary food hub.
SFinMP volunteers go far beyond food.
To start, volunteers fundraised £30k to set up a food hub for life. Very quickly, volunteers have done more. They have raised well-over £85,000 to run a service to over 4000+ disadvantaged local families, couples and individuals annually.
They have secured Marks & Spencer to fund professional bra fittings and the supply of properly fitted bras, restoring dignity and confidence for women who had gone without.
They support people recently released from two local HMPs with white goods, home furnishings and, just as importantly, a listening ear as they rebuild their lives.
They help people back into work through volunteer projects, practical coaching, funding for interview clothes & transport costs.
They raised the money to build a community library in the school.

Food hub users contribute £8.50 a week for up to £60 of fresh fruit and vegetables, chilled goods and cupboard food.
We source food from local supermarkets, FoodShare, which is in addition to our service level agreement with the Bread and Butter Thing (TBBT).

We source food from local supermarkets, FoodShare, which is in addition to our service level agreement with the Bread and Butter Thing (TBBT).
SFinMP also helps the food and housekeeping go further. We create recipes and run cooking classes, supply clothing, support with energy costs and mental health, offer housing guidance, provide hardship funds for those in dire straits and other tailored help.

Volunteers connect those with the urgent needs to the right support from the right people, throughout the year. We know the cost-of-living effects our mental health and well-being.

This physical task gives families consistence and reliability. Families know what to expect. Routine. Care. A safe place. These things grow trust and build relationships. Over the years, we have welcomed new volunteers and some have moved on. Every volunteer strikes up a meaningful relationship.

Volunteers listen, notice and act. Their approachability means hub users get the right help from the right place at the right time. Volunteers secure uniforms and shoes for children, arrange housing and health guidance and source fitted bras so women in hardship keep their dignity. They raise funds to support energy costs for the most vulnerable at Christmas, reducing anxiety during this difficult season. They also funded an onsite community library which reduced transport costs to the crowded town library. These volunteers' action prevent problems escalating and this cultivates reassurance.
